CAIRO – 24 October 2021: As part of the activities of the Year of Humanitarian Cooperation between Egypt and Russia, the Russian Cultural Center in Cairo is organizing a concert for the Blue Berets Band on October 24 at 7 p.m.
The concert will be held at the Tchaikovsky Theater at the center’s headquarters in Dokki.
The Blue Berets were founded in 1937, and performed in the front rows from Stalingrad to Berlin. In 1945, the band entered Berlin and held a concert on the steps of the Reichstag to celebrate victory in World War II.
In subsequent years, the band toured many cities in Germany, the Soviet Union, Czechoslovakia, Poland, Hungary and other European countries.
In 1994, the group was honored with the Lenin Youth Prize and the German Arts Prize from Germany. They currently hold more than 100 concerts annually in Russia and abroad.
The program of the concert includes several traditional Russian songs among others.
For his part, Director of the Russian Cultural Centers in Egypt Marat Gatin expressed his happiness to assume his new position with this grand celebration that will allow the Egyptian public to get acquainted with one of the most important Russian military teams. Gatin added that the diversity of the band’s program provides the audience with a clear idea of the Russian heritage and culture, which is the major goal of the Russian singing groups.
