Submission for participation in 59th Venice Biennale of Arts 2022 launches

CAIRO – 18 October 2021: The Supreme Council of Culture, through the Council’s Exhibitions Committee, announced the opening the submission for participation in the competition to select participants to represent Egypt at the 59th Venice Biennale of Arts for the year 2022 in Rome.

The theme of the Venice Biennale for 2022 will be "The Milk of Dreams", and it will be held under the artistic supervision of the Italian artist Cecilia Alemani.

The committee set the criteria and special conditions for participation in the competition, as follows:

First condition is to adhere to the “theme” of the competition while providing full freedom for the artist to express his/her creative perspective, taking into account the (dimensions) of the Egyptian pavilion.

Secondly, artists should not exceed the available budget of LE 500,000 to implement the artistic work. The contestant must submit the budget with the submitted work.

Third condition is that the size of the artwork should not exceed the size of the container for shipping the work (20 feet) (2.30 m x 5.80 m x 2.5 m in height), provided that the artwork materials and artistic media are light in weight, taking into account the conditions of security and safety.
