CAIRO – 17 October 2021: Sotheby's auction opened a bid for a number of modern and contemporary African art paintings in an auction that will continue until October 20. The collection comprises a number of paintings completed by the following African artists:
The “Nobel Prize in Love” painting by Congolese artist Chéri Samba:
Samba is one of the most important and famous African artists. The painting was completed in 2004 and was painted using oil colors on canvas.
The price of the painting is estimated between £20,000 and £30,000, and received a bid of £18,000.
“While Walking” painting by Congolese artist Muswengo Kiwamvi, AKA Muki:
It is one of the paintings done using oil colors on canvas, and it is one of the antique paintings completed in 1983. The price of the painting is estimated between £3,000 and £6,000. It received an initial bid of £3,5000.
“Anthroposophy” painting by Cameroonian artist Adjani Okpu-Egbe:
A mixture of materials was used to paint “Anthroposophy” on wood. Its price ranges between £12,000 and £18,000. The painting has received an initial bid of £9,000. It was signed and titled in 2019 by the 42-year-old Cameroonian artist.
