CAIRO – 17 October 2021: On October 19, the embassies of Latin American countries, Spain and Portugal will launch a photo exhibition entitled "Ibero-American Cities" at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.
The embassies of Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Spain, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, the Dominican Republic and Uruguay are participating in the exhibition by presenting three photographs of three cities and landscapes from each country.
The exhibition will run until October 22.
It is noteworthy that the cities built by Spain and Portugal in the New World always took their square as a pivotal place in which the main powers of that period were located.
Churches, government buildings and courts constructed by Europeans sometimes overshadowed other ancient buildings of the indigenous population, such as those belonging to the civilizations of the Inca and Maya. All these buildings are an indication of the great cultural and ethnic diversity that characterizes these countries.
This cultural initiative comes within the activities of the "Ibero-American Week in Alexandria", which will be held from October 19-28.
