732 - The Battle of the Martyrs' Court erupts in southern France between the Muslims led by the governor of Andalusia, Abd al-Rahman al-Ghafiqi on the one hand, and the Frankish and Burgundian forces led by Charles Martel on the other.

 

 

 

1799 - Napoleon Bonaparte arrives to France from Egypt.

 

 

 

1870 - Announcement of the annexation of Rome to the Italian Kingdom is proclaimed.

 

 

 

1950 - A political crisis erupts in Egypt after the discovery of  "corrupt weapons".

 

 

 

1956 - The Israeli occupation army and a group of settlers carry out a massacre against unarmed Palestinian citizens in the city of Qalqilya, killing more than 70 people.

 

 

 

1988 - The opening of the new Cairo Opera House building in Gezira.

 

 

 

2013 - The Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought was awarded to the Pakistani activist Malala Yousafzai.

 

 

 

2014 - Malala Yousafzai and Kailash Satyarthi win the Nobel Peace Prize.
