CAIRO – 27 September 2021: Egypt’s Ministry of Tourism & Antiquities launched a new electronic service for tourists via text messages upon arrival to Egypt.

This service targets facilitating direct communication with tourists upon their arrival to Egypt, to provide them with comfort and safety.

Assistant Minister of Tourism and Antiquities for digital transformation Khaled Sherif said that this service works through mobile companies operating in Egypt, which send a text message to tourists mobile phones upon arrival at the Egyptian airports as a welcoming gesture and to introduce them to the ministry’s hotline (19654).

The ministry’s hotline operates using several languages and is available for 12 hours to respond to any inquiries or listen to any suggestions or complaints.

He added that the text message also contains emergency numbers for the police and the ambulance.

The activation of this service comes within the framework of the cooperation protocol between the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, and the digital transformation project, which came from the strategy of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities to achieve the goals of sustainable development 2030.
