CAIRO – 19 September 2021: The Egyptian Opera House will celebrate the 150th anniversary of Opera Aida.
During the celebratory event, the Cairo Opera Troupe will present the legendary show accompanied by the Cairo Opera Orchestra and with the participation of the Cairo Opera Ballet Troupe and the Cairo Opera Choir, on September 22, 23 and 24 at 8 p.m. on the Fountain Theater.
Opera Aida was written by world famous Italian musician Verdi on the story of the French archaeologist Auguste Mariette, which commemorates the victory of the Egyptians over the Abyssinians.
It is worth mentioning that Opera Aida was scheduled to be presented as part of the celebrations for the completion of digging the Suez Canal. However, the circumstances of the war prevented it from being presented at the time. It staged for the first time on the Khedive Opera Theater on December 24, 1871.
The opera’s musical compositions that depicted the moment of victory (March of Victory) gained wide fame and was a great success when it was shown in various countries of the world.
