CAIRO – 6 September 2021: The Italian city of Cortona witnessed a major archaeological and cultural festival, where the Egyptian archaeologist Zahi Hawass gave a lecture on the recent archaeological discoveries in Egypt.

 

 

 

The mayor of the Italian city of Cortona also announced the selection of Hawass as Man of the Year, given his archaeological discoveries and his role in preserving antiquities and world heritage.

 

 

 

Hawass stressed that Egypt has recently witnessed a great leap in archaeological discoveries that amazed the world. He also spoke about the discovery of the Lost Golden City in Luxor, and the discovery of the mortuary temple of the wife of King Teti, the first king of the Sixth Dynasty in Saqqara.

 

 

 

Furthermore, Hawass explained that he is currently searching for the tomb of the engineer Imhotep in Saqqara and the tomb of Nefertiti in Luxor, and pointed to the importance of the strong ties between Egypt and Italy since ancient times.

 

 

 

Hawass invited the Italian people to visit Egypt, and at the end of the lecture he signed the book “The Magic of the Pyramids & Secrets from the Sand” published in the Italian language.
