1516 - The Battle of Marj Dabiq takes place between the Mamluks and the Ottomans.

1572 - The Saint Bartholomew Massacre, in which nearly 4,000 French Protestants were killed, broke out. This massacre was orchestrated by the King of Spain Philip II, the Pope and some Catholics. Catholics considered this massacre a Catholic victory.

2016 - An exoplanet called Proxima Centauri b is discovered in the habitable zone around Proxima Centauri, the closest star to the Sun.
