Idreesi releases his new single ‘Amman’

 

‘Amman’ is the lead single from his debut album on Wall of Sounds and marks a bold change of direction

 

 

Some artists might have felt the pressure of following up their hit single. But not Jordanian singer, producer and songwriter Idreesi. 

 

His acoustic single ‘Lahjur Wesalik’ was a serious hit when it was released at the end of 2020. And the Amman-born artist Idreesi felt the pressure from fans and friends to follow his success with more of the same style of music. 

 

But where Idreesi’s debut single was a winning mix of folk and Middle Eastern melodies, he was determined to change the script and embrace a new sound on the follow-up. 

 

And ‘Amman’ is the result as he channels an Arabic synth-pop sound. 

 

The gorgeous carefree melodies are still there. As is Mohammad Idreesi’s sunshine delivery. 

 

But with a strong back beat and a bigger, richer, pop sound, it’s a change in direction for the ex-Garaseen artist who started his music career back in 2012. 

 

“‘Amman’ is about the fake concrete city we live in and the phoney, shallow people around us who are all pretending to be something they are not. Which they do in order to conform to society's rules & expectations.”

Musically, Idreesi describes his sound as “Rich, real, relatable, original and contemporary.”

 

That new musical direction and that story-telling songwriting can be heard on his debut album which is set to drop next year on Wall of Sound Records. The album features a range of character-led tracks and themes, creating a range of story-telling options. 

‘Amman’ is the first single from that album and just the start of his new musical direction, says Idreesi. 

“The track is about giving into someone else’s idea of who we should be in order to keep the peace in our relationships; and all of this pressure eventually weighs too heavily on us.”

Thankfully, the pressure is off Idreesi as he moves into a new stage of his exciting career.
