CAIRO - 16 August 2021: The Director Morad Mostafa released the official poster for his third short film Khadiga, in preparation for the short film competition of the fifth edition of the El Gouna Film Festival, and that will take place from 14 to 22 October 2021.
The film is about Khadiga, a young mother of 18 lives alone with her baby after her husband left for work in a remote city; in an ordinary day she makes her way through the hustle of Cairo streets to do some visits where she feels uncomfortable with the surroundings. And about the participation of the film, Morad said,
" I am very happy that El Gouna Film Festival has chosen the film in the competition, the film completes the idea of social pressure and is complementary to my previous films (Hennet Ward and What We Don’t Know About Mariam), which I made to end a series of 3 films starring mothers of different ages and nationalities and in stressful and pressuring circumstances and events that reveal societal violence around us wherever we go. The films don’t claim anything and i’m not sending a specific messages in it, but I made it in order to question many things around me and try to reach something through those films.
Director Morad Mostafa relied on selecting characters who had no previous acting experience to star in the film, so that the film seems to be as real as possible. The film Khadiga is a French co-production, and the film is distributed by (Italian Company), and Main Cast of Khadiga is “Malik Tarek" and the story of Morad Mostafa, the screenplay by morad Mostafa with Mohamed Mamdouh, produced by Red Star, and Sawsan Youssef, French co-producer: Jerome Blisson and Co-producers from Egypt Sherif Fathy (The Cell), Mohamed Eid, Islam Dakhakhni, D.O.P Mostafa El Kashef, Editing for Mohamed Mamdouh, costume design by Reem El-Adl, Art dierctor by Iman Al-Elaby, sound design by Moustafa Shaaban, Mixing: for Galis Benardo.
Morad is an Egyptian Filmmaker, born 1988 in Cairo, he started his career in the film industry as an Assistant Director in various independent Films. And he Collaborated as an Executive Director in "Souad" feature film which was in the official selection in Cannes Film Festival 2020 and Berlinale 2021. He wrote and directed two short films "Henet Ward" and "What we don't know about Mariam" both had their world premieres in "Clermont-Ferrand" and has been selected in other major festivals (BFI London - Palm Springs- Busan - Thessaloniki - Stockholm - Karlovy Vary - Valencia - Shanghai - Buenos Aires- Durban - Cairo ) and has won more than 30 international awards.
