CAIRO – 16 August 2021: On August 19 at 11 a.m., Al-Sennari House in cooperation with the Cultural and Natural Heritage Documentation Center, affiliated to the Cultural Communication Sector at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, is organizing an art workshop for children under the title “Kenda & Louza” on the art of unpacking and cutting paper.
The workshop focuses on introducing the art of unloading and cutting paper and its history, the tools used in a simplified way, and the stages needed to unload and cut paper in an easy and accurate way.
Children will unpack printed shapes on cardboard. These shapes are decorative units derived from traditional arts and inscriptions that are rich and wonderful, which in the end gives a wonderful painting or work of art.
The workshop targets children from 7 to 12 years old, and the number to attend is 16 children. It aims to provide children with many different skills, such as accuracy, cutting and pasting, as well as developing creativity and innovation in them, in addition to teaching them how to deal with the world around them and to illustrate what they think in an innovative way, and to raise them to preserve cultural heritage.
The Bibliotheca Alexandrina realized the extent of the architectural and historical importance of Al-Sennari House, so it worked to prepare it to be a great cultural center and a house for science, culture and arts, with the aim of reviving the ancient Egyptian scientific complex that witnessed the creation of the famous “Description of Egypt” encyclopedia.
