Egypt’s BA to hold remote training courses for students, graduates of Department of History, Tourist Guidance & Archaeology

CAIRO – 9 August 2021: The Bibliotheca Alexandrina announced remote training courses for students and graduates of the Departments of History, Tourist Guidance and Archeology through the Antiquities Museum in cooperation with the Zahi Hawass Center for Egyptology, where applicants will receive a number of interactive scientific courses (online), within the framework of the museum and center’s plan for the current cultural season 2021.

The participants will conclude this course with a field visit to the Bibliotheca Alexandrina to learn about its various sections and its most important holdings. They will begin their visit with a specialized scientific tour inside the Antiquities Museum as a practical application of the course, and then honor the outstanding among them by giving them a number of recent publications of the library.

The library also announced the organization of heritage panorama shows under the title: "Egypt Heritage & Civilization", during August at the headquarters of the archaeological Al-Sennari House. The shows tell the history and civilization of Egypt over 5000 years, and it is a journey in time and space to shed light on the ancient Egyptian heritage, the Coptic heritage, and the Islamic heritage. The focus will be on the most important and famous kings and rulers, their works and achievements, starting with King Mina Narmer, who united Upper and Lower Egypt.

That is in addition to providing an explanation about the most important buildings and archaeological sites from the Coptic and Islamic eras, as well as presenting models from modern Egypt.

The shows will also include a presentation of one of the most important and oldest trips in history; the expedition to Punt, which Queen Hatshepsut was keen to document on the walls of her temple on the western bank. The participants will also enjoy a tour  of Al-Moez Street through interactive maps that include heritage and archaeological sites.

It is noteworthy that the Heritage Panorama, known as (Culturama), is an interactive presentation prepared by the Cultural and Natural Heritage Documentation Center at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, presented through nine digital screens, and is the first of its kind in the world. 

The panorama combines a wealth of information on natural and cultural heritage in a harmonious and innovative form, in addition to a rich and attractive multimedia program, and the latest display technology.

The cultural panorama won many awards, and also received a patent from the Ministry of State for Scientific Research Affairs in 2007.

It is worth noting that the cooperation of the Antiquities Museum and the Zahi Hawass Center for Egyptology at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina has resulted in many activities and events represented in scientific courses and field visits covering many topics on cultural and civilizational heritage, such as museology, and safe modern methods for studying and documenting the preservation of antiquities, which ultimately aims to spread archaeological awareness and prepare distinguished cadres in the archaeological work sector and heritage preservation.
