CAIRO – 26 July 2021: The Egyptian Publishers Association announced launching the application period for publishers to participate in the Alexandria International Book Fair, which will be held from August 16 to 30.
This comes within the framework of the direct coordination with the Bibliotheca Alexandrina to organize the participation of Egyptian publishers in the Bibliotheca Alexandrina’s Fair.
Egypt’s Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem decided to re-establish the book fair upon the request of the public and publishers, given the fact that the Mediterranean city of Alexandria receives thousands of non-local visitors during the summer months.
More than 800 Egyptian, Arab and foreign publishing houses participated in the exceptional 52nd Cairo International Book Fair, along with publishers from the sectors of the Ministry of Culture and other official entities.
The publishers confirmed the success of the 52nd Cairo International Book Fair in terms of visitors' turnout, and the percentage of sales that they considered satisfactory, especially in light of the circumstances the world is going through amid the global pandemic. Publishers consider the local book fairs to be the “kiss of life” for all publishers in general.
