CAIRO – 6 July 2021: 1049 years have passed since the establishment of Egypt’s capital, Cairo. Throughout the years, Cairo's features changed; its ancient streets became crowded, and modern architecture overshadowed the beauty of its Islamic architecture.
However, the Cairo of Al-Muizz Li-Din Allah Al-Fatimi remains captivating to its lovers and compelling to its enemies over the centuries.
Cairo Governorate celebrates, on July 6 of each year, its National Day, which coincides with the completion of the construction of Cairo by the leader, Jawhar al-Siqali, and despite the passage of 1049 years since its establishment, its richness is unparalleled. This made Cairo join the Creative Cities Network at UNESCO.
