CAIRO – 1 July 2021: Egyptian archaeologist Zahi Hawass' media advisor, Ali Abu Dashish, announced that Hawass returned from the Russian Federation after a two-day visit, during which he gave a lecture to promote Egyptian tourism and signed his book, “The Magic of the Pyramids”, which was published in the Russian language.
During the visit, Hawass met with the Russian Minister of Culture and spoke about the recent archaeological discoveries in Egypt, and about President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi's great interest in Egyptian antiquities. Hawass also spoke about Egypt’s countless museums and the restoration project of Khedivial and Islamic Cairo.
Abu Dashish denied in a press statement Thursday news that is being propagated by some on social media to ban Hawass from traveling, stressing that legal measures will be taken against those who promote false information.
A number of social media users echoed allegations that Hawass was involved in a case of illegal excavation of antiquities, in which businessman Hassan Ratib and former MP Alaa Hassanein are accused.
