CAIRO – 21 June 2021: Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Chairman of the Egyptian National Committee for Education, Science and Culture (UNESCO - ALECSO - ISESCO) Khaled Abdel Ghaffar chaired the first meeting of the Higher Committee for Egypt's hosting of the 14th General Conference of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO).
During the meeting, the Minister stressed the important role played by ISESCO in the fields of education, science and culture in Egypt, pointing to the need to support joint cooperation between Egypt and the organization in the fields of scientific research, technology, science and innovation.
Abdel Ghaffar expressed the appreciation of the Egyptian government and people for ISESCO's pioneering role in spreading peace and knowledge, and supporting development efforts in the Islamic world, calling for the preservation of the organization's creative role in achieving peace and human development.
He wished the success of the ISESCO General Conference scheduled to be held in December 2021 through discussions and dialogues that serve the organization's work.
The meeting discussed the proposed topics that will be held on the sidelines of the General Conference, including: ISESCO Year for Women with the participation of the First Lady of Egypt, ISESCO Program for Young Professionals, the First and Second Summits of Science, Technology and Innovation in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the First Regional Forum for Open Science in the Arab Countries, as well as discussing the administrative and logistical procedures related to the conference, the national organizations, agencies and ministries proposed to participate in the conference's activities, in addition to organizing an exhibition expressing the interests of ISESCO in the fields of higher education and scientific research.
The meeting also discussed the proposals of the scientific program that will be held on the sidelines of the General Conference, including: internationalization of education, higher education and scientific research, future jobs, scientific research and industry, and business incubators in the field of artificial intelligence.
For his part, Director General of ISESCO Salem bin Mohammad Al-Malik expressed his gratitude and appreciation to Egypt for hosting the 14th organization’s general conference, as well as the meeting of the Executive Council, and the great interest of the National Committee represented by Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Khaled Abdel Ghaffar for exerting great efforts to achieve the success for this important event.
He noted the need for the activities accompanying the General Conference and the Executive Council to include the fields of education, culture, education, science, antiquities and peace, to benefit from Egypt's pioneering experience in these fields.
The Director General of ISESCO affirmed the organization's keenness to continue cooperating with Egypt, especially in the programs and activities of ISESCO's Year of Women 2021.
