CAIRO – 16 June 2021: In implementation of the agreement of President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi and Russian President Vladimir Putin, Egypt’s Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem, will launch the activities of the Year of Humanitarian Exchange between the two friendly countries on June 18 at 8 p.m. at Cairo Opera House’s Grand Theater.
The event will be held in the presence of Representative of the State of Russian Federation and Deputy Russian Minister of Culture Olga Yarilova, President of Egypt’s Opera House Magdy Saber, and a number of ministers, ambassadors and leaders of the Ministry of Culture.
Abdel Dayem said that the year of the Egyptian-Russian Humanitarian Exchange confirms the strong ties that unite Cairo and Moscow and boosts bilateral cooperation in various fields.
She pointed out that the program of events includes many diverse exchange activities that reflect the creative movement in the two societies, emphasizing the importance of the role of soft powers in building bridges of communication between peoples despite their different mother languages.
It is worth noting that the Ministry of Culture, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Russian side, has prepared an agenda of 23 cultural and artistic events, in which all sectors and bodies of the Ministry of Culture will participate over the course of a whole year. The activities of the Year of Humanitarian Exchange between the two friendly countries will conclude in May 2022 in the Russian capital, Moscow.
Russia has been chosen as the guest of honor for the Ismailia International Festival for Documentary and Short Films, as well as seminars, book fairs, and exhibitions of plastic arts, and traditional crafts. This is in addition to translating many works from the Russian language to the Arabic language and vice versa.
