CAIRO – 10 June 2021: Egypt’s Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem will inaugurate the eighth International Festival of Drums at Bir Youssef Theater in the Citadel of Salah al-Din on June 12.

Titled “Dialogue of Drums for Peace", the festival will run until June 18. Colombia and South Sudan will attend the festival as guests of honor.

Thirty troupes representing Colombia, Philippines, Indonesia, Sudan, South Sudan, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Yemen, Democratic Congo, Palestine, Egypt and Syria will take part in the event.

Moreover, members of some foreign communities living in Egypt will also take part in the festival to present their heritage.

Also, several workshops will be held on the sidelines of the festival.

Furthermore, the Folklore Arts House will participate in the event through four troupes, namely Reda Troupe, National Folklore Troupe, Folk Music Troupe and Circus Troupe.

It is worth noting that the drums festival was founded in 2012 by Intesar Abdel Fattah, expert of culture and arts in the Ministry of Culture and General Manager of Al-Ghouri Arts Center.

Abdel Fattah is responsible for the establishment of several arts groups, such as the Egyptian Arts Troupe.
