CAIRO – 3 June 2021: Renowned Egyptian actor Mahmoud Yassin was born in Port Said city in June 2, 1941.
Yassin graduated from the Faculty of Law at Cairo University in 1964. He debuted his artistic career by joining the National Theatre in 1963. Yassin has an acting career that spanned over 55 years.
He participated in tens of movies, plays and radio and TV series. He was the main star for most of the 1970s and 1980s movies.
His cinematic repertoire houses a number of immortal movies such as “ El Rosasa la Tazal fe Geeby” (The Bullet is Still in My Pocket), “ El Kheet el Rafie”, “ Ayan Akly” (Where is My Mind), “ Afwah w Araneb” (Mouths and Rabbits), “ Anf w Salas 3eyoun” (A Nose and Three Eyes), “ Nahno la Nazra’a el Shook” ( We don’t Plant thrones), “ El Setat” ( Women) among others.
The legendary actor participated in a number of TV series such as “ El Kaher w el Nas” (Cairo and the People), “ El Esyan” ( The Rebellion), “ Mozakarat Zog” ( Memories of a Husband) among others.Yassin received numerous awards for excellence throughout his career.
Governor of Port Said Adel el-Ghadban decided on June to name the Grand Hall of the Cultural Center Theater [Port Said Opera] after legendary actor Mahmoud Yassin, son of Port Said Governorate.
Ghadban said in press statements that he made this decision to honor the actor's long artistic career and his role in enriching the artistic movement with his works in cinema, theater and television, wishing him well-being and full glory.
The late great Egyptian actor was married to the retired actress Shahira and has a son, script writer Amr Mahmoud Yassin and actress Rania Mahmoud Yassin who is married to Egyptian actor Mohamed Reyad.
Yassin passed away on October 14, 2020.
