Egypt's Min. of Tourism & Antiquities Khaled el-Enany [R] presenting a souvenir to Governor of Vojvodina Igor Mirovic - Min. of Tourism & Antiquities
CAIRO – 26 May 2021: On May 25, Egypt’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled el-Enany met with a Serbian government delegation headed by Governor of Vojvodina Igor Mirovic.
The delegation included representatives of the tourism, economy, industry and the trade sectors in Serbia.
The meeting was attended by Ambassador of Serbia to Cairo Jugoslav Vukadinovic, Vice Minister for Tourism Affairs Ghada Shalaby and CEO of the Egyptian Tourism Promotion Board Ahmed Youssef.
During the meeting, enhancing tourism and archaeological cooperation between the two countries and increasing inbound tourism from Serbia to Egypt was discussed.
Enany said that Serbia is one of the top twenty countries sending tourists to Egypt and that the number of Serbian tourists is witnessing a noticeable increase.
He added that Serbia was one of the first countries whose tourists came to Egypt after the resumption of inbound tourism last July.
Moreover, Enany said that this confirms the confidence of Serbia in the precautionary measures and hygiene safety regulations applied in Egypt.
The Minister of Tourism & Antiquities Khaled el-Enany emphasized the depth of relations between the two countries and that they are witnessing cooperation plans in many fields.
Furthermore, Enany spoke about the efforts made by the Egyptian state to support the tourism sector from the repercussions of the global pandemic to ensure the safety of workers in the sector, citizens, and tourists.
He explained that Egypt is updating these procedures and regulations regularly.
Enany noted that Egypt has given high priority to vaccinating workers in the tourism sector against Coronavirus. He said that the first phase of vaccination of workers in the tourism sector in South Sinai and the Red Sea governorates will be completed within the coming days, then the second phase of vaccination in the governorates of Cairo, Giza, Luxor, and Aswan will begin.
The meeting also discussed a number of important issues, including the work of the joint Egyptian-Serbian committee, which will witness a broader framework for cooperation.
The Governor of the Vojvodina expressed his country's desire to strengthen cooperation between the two countries, especially in the fields of tourism and culture, as the region of Vojvodina is considered a major cultural hub in the Republic of Serbia.
In that respect, the Enany referred to the possibility of organizing tourism and cultural events between the two countries in cooperation with the Egyptian Ministry of Culture.
For his part, Igor Mirovic noted Egypt's successful participation as a guest of honor in 2020 in the Serbian Tourism Exhibition and extended an invitation to the Egypt’s Minister of Tourism & Antiquities Khaled el-Enany to visit Serbia and participate in the next edition of the exhibition.
Also during the meeting, the members of the delegation said that Egypt is one of the most important tourist destinations preferred by the Serbian tourists, especially Egypt’s picturesque beaches on the Red Sea coast, praising the vaccination of workers in the tourism sector.
At the end of the meeting, the Enany and Mirovic exchanged souvenirs. Enany presented him with an archeological replica.
