CAIRO – 19 May 2021: Egypt’s Minister of Culture Inas Abdel-Dayem is scheduled to announce the State Awards’ winners for 2021 in June.

Winners will be announced in all branches of the State Awards, including the Arab Nile Award, Nile Award, Appreciation Award, Excellence Award and the Encouragement Award.

The value of each of the Nile Awards for Egyptian creators, as well as Arab creators, is L.E. 500,000 and a gold medal.

It is not permissible to divide the award or give it to one person more than once.

As for the Excellence Award in the fields of arts, literature and social sciences for the year 2021, the value of each prize for each of these branches is L.E.100,000 and a silver medal. The award may not be divided or granted to one person in the same branch more than once.

The State’s Appreciation Award's value amounts to L.E. 200,000 and a gold medal. It also shall not be divided or granted to the same winner twice.

The value of each award for each of these branches within the State Encouragement Award is L.E. 50,000.

It is planned that the State Awards for the years 2020 and 2021 will be merged, in order to solve the crisis of "the gap year" that occurred 53 years ago, where the winners of the year 1967 were never announced due to the War of Attrition.

Most of the award candidates come from institutions, unions and associations; COVID-19 did not affect the rate of participation in and submission for the 2021 State Awards.
