CAIRO – 18 May 2021: Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled el-Enany and Minister of Civil Aviation Mohammed Manar, inaugurated today, in celebration of International Museum Day, two new museums at Cairo International Airport in Terminal 2 and Terminal 3.
Now visitors will be able to have a glimpse of Egypt's treasures at Cairo International airport and enjoy a unique experience.
The airport museums aim to promote cultural tourism in Egypt to attract and encourage tourists, especially transit passengers, to visit archaeological and historical sites and museums.
The area of Terminal 2 Airport Museum is approximately 150 m. Terminal 3 museum includes about 70 artifacts, carefully selected by the Supreme Committee for Museum Exposition Scenario.
The airport's artifacts were selected from the stores of a number of museums, including the stores of the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir, the Suez Museum and the Greco-Roman Museum, to feature the different eras of the Egyptian civilization, including the ancient Egyptian, Coptic and Islamic times.
Located in a privileged place, the museums will also include outlets to sell gifts and souvenirs, as well as one of the most important outlets for selling antique reproductions.
Identification cards for all the pieces housed in the Terminal 2 and 3 Airport Museums have already been completed.
