CAIRO – 5 April 2021: Social media users in Egypt and around the world shared their reactions to what they saw as a dazzling and historic event; Egypt’s parade of 22 mummies to their new rest place.

On April 3, the world watched eagerly the historic event of the transfer of 22 Egyptian pharaonic mummies from the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square to the National Museum of Civilization in  Cairo’s Fustat city.

Mummies of 18 kings and four queens were transported by road in beautifully- designed carts that hosted the mummies’ capsule filled with nitrogen to provide protection.

Head of the company organizing the parade Mohamed Saadi said that a total of 10,000 people participated in making this historic event a successful ceremony. He added that all participants are volunteers from universities, as well as designers of clothes and the band.

“There were 60 cameras broadcasting the parade in a debut,” Saady said, adding that it is the first time for an orchestra to perform live along with such a historic parade.

Saady said that his company was directing the whole event, adding that there were scenes that were captured in different places.

Preparations for the event started one year ago and the rehearsals lasted for three months, Saady said.

“The event reflects the Egyptian civilization, which was what the political leadership was constantly seeking,” he said, adding that President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi has been following up closely on all the details of the event, and he suggested that the children participate in the opening of the ceremony.
