CAIRO – 5 April 2021: The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization witnessed a huge turnout from visitors on the first day of operation on April 4 after it was officially inaugurated by Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi during the Golden Pharaohs’ Parade on April 3.
“We did not expect this huge amount of visits on the first days of the operation, as many people were keen to visit the museum once it was open, to the point that we closed the hall more than once due to the increase in the number of visitors of different ages, in order to maintain social distancing,” said Head of the NMEC Ahmed Ghoneim.
Ghoneim added that he was keen to pass by all visitors to ask them about their first impression of the museum, and all the feedbacks were positive.
Until April 17, 2021, a 50-percent discount on the ticket price of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization is granted to Egyptians and foreigners. Museum tickets cost LE 200 for foreigners, LE 100 pounds for foreign students, LE 60 for Egyptians, and LE 30 for Egyptian students.
The museum’s official page, an online ticketing platform, and an electronic ticketing platform for museum entry tickets were launched.
