1492 - Spain's Queen Isabella I issues the Alhambra decree, which stipulated that all of the Muslims and Jews living there at the time [numbering 150,000] must convert to Christianity or leave Spain for good.
1889 - The official opening of the Eiffel Tower.
1909 - Construction of the famous Titanic begins.
2020 - The painting of ‘The Parsonage Garden at Nuenen’, by the world painter Van Gogh on his birthday, was stolen from the Singer Laren Museum in the city of Laren in the north of the Netherlands.
1841 - Ahmed Orabi, Egyptian leader.
1931 - Adam Hanin, Egyptian sculptor and painter.
1987 - Emmy Samir Ghanem, Egyptian actress.
