CAIRO – 29 March 2021: Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouly chaired the meeting of the Ministerial Committee for Tourism and Antiquities, in the presence of Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled el-Anany, Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem, and Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait.

 

 

The Ministerial Committee started its meeting on March 29 by following up the final arrangements for the event of the Pharaoh’s Golden Parade scheduled for April 3, 2021.

 

 

Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Khaled el-Anany stated that since the announcement of the date of the event in Egypt on March 18, 2021, advertising space has been purchased in Arab and European countries.

 

 

The presence of a number of international dignitaries has also been confirmed in the event, and 400 TV channels have confirmed broadcasting the event.

 

 

During the meeting, the Tourism and Antiquities Committee agreed to continue working with a number of facilities to support the tourism sector, until October 31, 2021, in preparation for submitting them to the Council of Ministers.

 

 

The Ministerial Committee also reviewed the inbound tourism movement to Egypt during the period from January 2020 to February 2021, where the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities indicated that more than 2 million tourists visited Egypt since the resumption of tourism, from July 2020 to February 2021.

 

 

He also explained in detail the inbound tourism movement to South Sinai and the Red Sea from July 2020 to March 2021. Also, Anany reviewed the efforts made by the ministry to boost the tourism movement, pointing to the "Winter in Egypt" initiative to encourage domestic tourism since January 15, 2021.

 

 

The minister also discussed aspects of tourism promotion, which included the release of a promotional video entitled "Egypt, Land of Beauty" in celebration of the New Year 2021. 

 

 

The Ministerial Committee reviewed the latest developments related to the tourism sector, as the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities referred to the inauguration of the "Konooz Company for Archaeological Models", which aims at keeping pace with the local and international market requirements in the manufacture of archaeological models.
