CAIRO – 22 February 2021: Egypt’s committee for the support of labor affected by the economic repercussions of the coronavirus, decided Monday to disburse the last batch of the presidential grant for irregular workers on Sunday, March 7th.
In a meeting chaired by Minister of Planning Hala El-Said, the results of data analysis on previous payments of eligibility rules, geographical distribution of beneficiaries, exchange rates from Egyptian post outlets and the Agricultural Bank, and the effectiveness of using electronic wallets on mobile phones, were discussed, according to a statement issued, Monday.
This came during a joint meeting between the Ministers of Planning, Manpower and Solidarity with the participation of, Minister of Manpower, Mohamed Saafan, Minister of Solidarity Nevine al-Kabbaj, Head of the National Council for Women Maya Morsy, Chairman of the Egyptian Postal Authority Sherif Farouk, and representatives of the Central Bank and the Administrative Control Authority, in order to follow up the procedures for disbursing the last batch of the presidential grant for irregular workers.
El-Said affirmed that the committee is keen to implement President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi's directives to support irregular employment and to disburse the last batch of the presidential grant according to the merit rules that ensure that the grant reaches its beneficiaries and coordinates with all partner agencies and ministries to facilitate disbursements from the mail, the Egyptian Agricultural Bank, and electronic wallets on the mobile phone.
The Minister of Planning added that the choice of the date of exchange is governed by several limitations, the most important of which is coordination with the exchange authorities to ensure that there are no accumulations and the disbursement procedure is in accordance with the requirements of precautionary measures to confront coronavirus.
