CAIRO - 10 February 2021: Egypt's food exports to China witnessed a 21 percent increase in 2020, registering $ 36 million in total compared to $ 21 million in 2019, Deputy Executive Director at the Egyptian Food Export Council (FEC) Tameem El-Dawy said Wednesday.
During his speech at a symposium organized in cooperation with the commercial representation office, Dawy cited a remarkable hike in Egyptian food exports to China over the past seven year.
He noted that sugar cane, sugar beet bulb and frozen strawberries constitute about 98 percent of Egyptian food exports to China during 2020, amounting to $ 35.9 million in total.
Egypt ranks first in the world in terms of frozen strawberry exports, which represent 31 percent of total food exports to China, Dawy added during the event that was held under the theme: "Prospects for promoting Egyptian food exports to China."
