First of 22 Chinese trains arrives in August to serve in electric railway network from Al-Salam to Administrative Capital

CAIRO – 31 January 2021: The first of 22 trains that will work in the electric railway network from al-Salam City to the Administrative Capital and 10 Ramadan City will arrive in August.

The National Authority for Tunnels (NAT) said in a Saturday statement that the trains are currently being manufactured in China.

The new railway is of 90 kilometers and will serve as an exchange terminal with the Third Metro Line at Adly Mansour station. It will serve the same purpose with the Monorail of the Administrative Capital and the high-speed train in the city, which will run to Alamein City on the Mediterranean.

The electric train will pass through Cairo-Ismailia Desert Road until the industrial city of Rubiky north of the Suez railway, where it splits into two lines. The first line goes to Ramadan 10 City through the Regional Ring Road and Badr City, and the second goes to the Administrative Capital and Qattamiya Airport. In the second phase of the project, the train will continue from Ramadan 10 City to Belbeis city of Sharkia governorate.
