CAIRO – 6 January 2021: Total additional funds available to support the health sector in the country in its various paths nationwide since the start of the Corona pandemic and so far, have reached LE 14.4 billion, Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait said Wednesday.

Maait added in a statement, Wednesday, that the government, since the beginning of the "pandemic", has taken immediate measures to support the medical sector, as it began to procure LE 1 billion to the Ministry of Health to provide basic needs of preventive supplies, and with the beginning of the second wave, it also initiated another LE 1 billion.

This came during the Treasury Secretary’s meeting with US Treasury Secretary Stephen Mnuchin and his accompanying delegation.

He stated that President Abdel Fatah El-Sisi directed at the beginning of the "pandemic" to allocate LE 100 billion to finance the state's plan to confront the repercussions of the coronavirus and reduce the burden on citizens.

Maait pointed out that with the beginning of the second wave, President Al-Sisi also directed to strengthen the financial support package to counter the negative effects of this global epidemic.
