CAIRO – 9 November 2020: Egypt’s first Virtual Business Week event kicked off on Monday, Nov. 9. It will last for four days till Nov. 12.
The event is organized by the Egyptian British Business Association BEBA and the Egyptian-British Chamber of Commerce (EBCC) in cooperation with the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in the United Kingdom and the Department of International Trade (DIT).
DIT is a part of the U.K. government that works on helping businesses export and grow into global markets.
The event will discuss the green economy file and ways Cooperation between Egypt and the United Kingdom in this regard and deepening trade, economic and investment relations between the two countries.
Continuing the efforts concerned with the consolidation of bilateral relations between Egypt and the United Kingdom and the activation of more agreements and cooperation opportunities between the two countries.
“This hypothetical event is considered an alternative to the two door-knocking missions carried out by the Egyptian British Association from Egypt to the United Kingdom and the trade cooperation mission carried out by the Egyptian-British Chamber from the United Kingdom to the Arab Republic of Egypt,” a joint press release stated.
Head of the Egyptian British Business Association, Khaled Nusair, said that Egypt plays a crucial role in the regional international trade scene and hence further deepening the collaboration with the UK is deemed a necessity, especially since the two countries have a great record of success in the field of trade exchange, stressing the need to adapt to current challenges and shift more to the digital sphere.
For his part, the British Ambassador to Egypt, Geoffrey Adams, welcomed the event as a clear and encouraging sign of the depth of trade and business relations between the UK and Egypt, and hoped that the exchanges and conversations would lead to further cooperation in the future.
"We are working to create more diverse channels of communication between companies and each of the two governments to identify priorities and benefit from them. Recently, we have seen significant attention paid to the green economy, which now more than ever is becoming a priority to countries in the region," Chairman of the the Egyptian-British Chamber of Commerce Ian Gray said.
During the four-day event, it will discuss a number of main themes, including achieving sustainable growth and development for future generations, and the transition to a green economy, in addition to discussing the future of gas and oil, the strategy of the Suez Canal economic zone, sustainable financing solutions and cooperation opportunities between Egypt and the United Kingdom in the field of communications, education, and consolidating digital transformation in all industries.
