CAIRO - 28 October 2020: Minister of Trade and Industry Nevine Gamea said the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (MSMEDA) is keen to contribute to the concrete efforts exerted by the Ministry of State for Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs to implement the Survival Boats initiative.

Gamea, who doubles as the CEO of MSMEDA, made the remarks as the agency inked contracts worth LE 228 million with the governorates of Luxor, Assiut, Minya, Fayium, Qalyubia, Menoufia, Gharbia, Sharqia, Beheira, Daqahlia and Kafr el Sheikh.

Under the contracts, the MSMEDA shall carry out projects to upgrade infrastructure in the 11 governorates.

The move comes in light of MSMEDA’s implementation of an agreement to carry out European Union-funded programs addressing the root causes of irregular migration.

It also comes in line with the State’s efforts to confront irregular migration and improve living conditions in areas from which irregular migrants usually hail.
