Sisi directs government to establish central laboratories in Egypt’s hub ports

CAIRO – 16 October 2020: Central laboratories will be established in Egypt’s major hub ports for cargo analysis to speed up the release of customs consignments as per directives from Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, according to a statement from the Egyptian cabinet on Friday.
 
In a cabinet meeting held on Friday, Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouli requested a prepared report that includes the needs and equipment by middle of next week to facilitate the procedures of establishing such labs, the statement added.
 
“We will not allow suspending customs release procedures and any bureaucratic procedures will be overcome,” said Madbouli at the meeting.
 
Madbouli added out that the state loses a lot [of money] because of the stumbling and bureaucracy of these measures and will not allow this to continue, stressing that anyone who will neglect the new regulations will be held accountable.
 
PM indicated that these facilities contribute to improving Egypt's global ranking in the speedy completion of customs procedures under the standards of the World Customs Organization and help adance the national economy.
 
The meeting was attended by Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait, Minister of Health and Population Hala Zayed, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Al-Sayed Al-Qusayr, Minister of Trade and Industry Nevin Jamae, Deputy Minister of Finance for Public Treasury Affairs Ihab Abu Aish, and other government officials.
