CAIRO – 30 August 2020: Sales of the automotive market rose 14.4 percent during July 2020, recording 18,262 vehicles, compared to 15,958 vehicles in the same month of 2020, according to the monthly bulletin of the Automotive Market Information Council (AMIC).
In April, sales of passenger cars recorded a 26 percent decline, affected by the precautionary measures imposed by the government to confront the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, which included a temporary suspension of new vehicle licenses and a reduction in working hours, which led to a decline in demand for cars.
AMIC attributed the rise in car sales to the increase in bus sales by 58.9 percent to reach 2,421 vehicles, compared to 1,524 vehicles in July 2019.
Meanwhile, truck sales increased by 15 percent to reach 3,375 vehicles, compared to 2,935 vehicles in the same period of 2019, and private car sales increased by 8 percent to reach 12,466 vehicles, compared to 11,499 vehicles in July 2019.
