CAIRO – 19 August 2020: The Yellow Economy is a term refers to an economic branch that studies solar energy and how to use it to achieve sustainable development, Islam Gamal Al-Din Shawky, author of the book “ The yellow economy” stated.
Gamal al-Din added during a TVinterview that solar energy is the main source of most energy sources, and it is also the free source that can be reached in remote places that no other energy source can reach.
He also emphasized that solar energy - the yellow economy - has many characteristics that make it the best compared to all other types of energy, as it is clean and non-polluting energy for the environment, unlike other energy sources that result in polluting emissions, in addition to that it is considered a free source for energy that does not depleted.
He explained that the use of solar energy achieves many goals that are the basis of all development, especially sustainable development, noting that among these goals is the doubling of agricultural production, as crops can be intensified and loaded onto each other to allow each crop to obtain its right from solar energy represented in the number of light hours required by each crop.
He also stated that diversifying energy sources is also among the goals, as the unconscious use of traditional energy sources leads to two problems, namely depletion and pollution, in addition to that solar energy can reduce the quantities of petroleum and natural gas used in the production of electricity, and benefit from it in other areas that generate Greater return.
Shawky called on the Minister of Planning and Economic Development, Hala Al-Saeed, to work on moving towards the yellow economy and adopting it and placing it as one of the strategic goals within Egypt's 2030 strategy.
