CAIRO – 18 August 2020: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) and the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) will be off on Thursday, August 20, on the occasion of Islamic New Year.
Islamic Date is also called Hijri Date in Muslim world that follows Moon phases as lunar calendar.
“Trading will be resumed effective Sunday Aug. 23,” EGX added.
Prime minister Mostafa Madbouli issued a decision on Sunday to consider Thursday, August 20, a day off on the occasion of the new Hijri year.
EGX ended Tuesday in red as: EGX30 declined 0.59 percent, EGX50 decreased 0.54 percent, EGX 70 dropped 0.47 percent, and EGX 100 inched down 0.55 percent.
The latest holiday for EGX and CBE was for five days, starting from Thursday, July 30 till Monday, August 3, on the occasion of Eid Al-Adha holiday.
