Value added tax to be applied on advanced freight services

CAIRO - 16 July 2020: The Tax Authority signed on Thursday a cooperation protocol with the Customs Authority and Alexandria Chamber of Shipping to set a mechanism to apply Value Added Tax (VAT) on advanced freight services (ADV FRI) on exempted goods and commodities listed in the schedule attached to the Value Added Tax Law No 67 of 2016.

The protocol comes in implementation of the directives of the finance minister to guarantee tax justice in the application of the law regulating VAT, said Reda Abdel Kader, head of the Tax Authority.

Guidelines in this regard will be distributed at all customs outlets to set the tax value on advanced freight services.
