Egypt’s fuel imports decline 76% in April 2020

CAIRO – 13 July 2020: Egypt’s fuel imports dipped 76 percent or $671.297 million in April 2020, amounting to about $209.235 million, down from $880.532 million in April 2019, according to the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics.

 

Additionally, crude oil imports have amounted to $119.93 million in April, compared to $227.33 million in April 2019, with a noticeable decline of about $107.940 million.

 

Oil products imports decreased by $521.454 million, recording $71 million in April 2020, from 592.454 million in April 2019. Also, Egypt’s imports of coal declined by $40 million to become $17 million, compared to $57 million recorded during the same period in 2019.

 

Egypt's trade balance recorded a deficit of $2.36 billion in April 2020, compared with a deficit of $4.28 billion reported in the same month of the previous year, with a decline of about 45 percent. 

 

In the latest reports, Egypt's total imports recorded $4.19 billion in April 2020, compared to $7 billion in April 2019, with a decrease of 40.1 percent.
