CAIRO - 2 July 2020 - Belarus Ambassador in Cairo Sergei Terentiev asserted that Belarus is keen on boosting relations with Egypt in the domain of economic development.
Terentiev said that there is a chance for Egypt to export high-quality goods like fruits, veggies, medical equipment, clothes, furniture, home appliances, and chemical products.
In an interview with MENA on the occasion of the Belarus National Day, Terentiev said that Belarus companies are working on promoting cooperation especially in the fields of technology and investment.
Terentiev said that the bilateral trade between Egypt and Belarus witnessed a dynamic development in the past years, adding that the trade exchange increased by 30% in 2019.
The trade between both countries inched down from January until May because of COVID 19, he said.
A number of contracts and memos were inked between Egypt and Belarus to establish factories and support technological exchange and trade in Africa.
The deals were signed during a meeting of the Egyptian-Belarus business council that was held in February in the New Administrative Capital, he said.
Talks are underway between the two sides on upgrading Egyptian industrial institutions and benefiting from the Belarus expertise and technology, he added.
Terentiev said that the visits exchanged between the presidents of both countries are considered cornerstones for enhancing bilateral ties.
There are promising horizons to promote cooperation in the scientific and technological fields, said he.
