CAIRO – 25 June 2017: Egypt’s cotton imports recorded LE 6.3 billion ($347 million) in 2016, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) said Sunday.
Imports of oilseed agricultural corps, such as soybeans, peanuts, pulp, linseed, sunflower, sesame seeds, mustard seeds, clover and thyme seeds, hyssop fruits and sugar cane, registered LE 9.1 billion in the same period.
Egyptian exports of cotton hiked 19.6 percent between December and the end of February. A CAPMAS report released earlier this month that exports reached 134,800 metric kantars during that period, compared to 112,700 metric kantars in the corresponding period last year.
