ISMAILIA, Egypt - 23 June 2017: Ninety-eight ships transited the Suez Canal over the past two days with a total cargo of 6.900 million tons, Head of the Suez Canal Authority Mohab Mamish asserted on Friday.
During his inspection tour of a number of vital institutions at the authority, Mamish said the recent increase in the number of vessels crossing the waterway is a strong evidence of the remarkable recovery in the world’s trade movement.
Also, he ascribed the recent rise in the Suez Canal’s revenues to the measures and incentives provided by the Suez Canal authority to ships passing by the waterway.
About 3,200 vessels have transited the Suez Canal over a year and half, paying USD 670 millions as fees, Mamish noted.
