CAIRO – 21 April 2020: Minister of Finance Mohamed Ma’it stated that allocations of spending on health sector in the state’s draft budget for 2020/2021 amounted to LE 258 billion, marking an increase of 46 percent or LE82 billion compared to 2019/2020 budget.
Ma’it affirmed during his speech at the parliament that the draft budget for 20/21 is committed to meet the constitutional ratios for spending allocations on the sectors of health, education, higher education, and scientific research.
As per the education sector, Ma’it clarified that allocation of spending on the sector rose 14 percent in 20/21 budget, recording LE 363 billion, compared to 19/20 budget.
“Allocations for spending on the scientific research sector reached LE 60.4 billion, and an amount of LE 10.6 billion was allocated to support health insurance and treatment at the expense of the state for those who are not able, so that the allocations for comprehensive health insurance reach about LE 865 million,’ he noted.
Moreover, he revealed an increase in allocations for medical professions by 75 percent or LE 2.25 billion to exceed a total of LE 5.25 billion, and doctors ’rewards were raised to LE 320 million, in addition to allocating LE 7 billion to the most-needy villages, and LE 19 billion to finance a solidarity and dignity program.
Ma’it clarified that 2020/2021 budget includes allocations for improving services, social protection, health and education with continuing support for brackets affected by Covid-19 in implementation of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's instructions.
The minister further said that the Egyptian economy achieved positive results in 2020 while the state continued to support those harmed by the Coronavirus measures.
Ma’it said the government seeks in its new budget to stave off any damage to the country’s economy and support all sectors to achieve social justice.
CAIRO - 21 April 2020: Coping with the global and economic circumstances taking place as a result of coronavirus (COVID-19) and the precautionary measures taken to curb it, Egypt's cabinet, headed by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli, approved, on March 26, the draft budget and the sustainable development plan for the new fiscal year 2020/2021.
