Mashat in talks with MIGA over investments in Egypt

CAIRO - 27 February 2020: International Cooperation Minister Rania el Mashat met on Thursday with Executive Vice President of Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA) Hiroshi Matano.

MIGA is an international financial institution which offers political risk insurance and credit enhancement guarantees. These guarantees help investors protect foreign direct investments against political and non-commercial risks in developing countries.

The minister called on MIGA to hold workshops with the Egyptian chambers of commerce to encourage companies to pump money in Egyptian markets.

Matano reiterated the agency's keenness on boosting the private sector in Egypt.

Among the prominent activities of MIGA in Egypt is offering 150-million-dollar guarantees to provide reinsurance for the Overseas Private Investment Corporation’s (OPIC) coverage to Apache Corporation of the United States. (
