CAIRO- 30 December 2019: The Egyptian Tax Authority (ETA) affirmed the importance of the tax invoice for citizens, registered businesses and the whole national tax system, in light of of its contribution to the increasing tax revenues and subsequently achieving targeted development plans.
ETA Chairman Abdel Azim Hassan, in a statement issued on Monday, urged the citizens to make it a point whenever they pay for purchasing any merchandise or getting any service to take invoices from the seller or the service provider, noting that this is their legal right.
The invoice guarantees getting a good product from a known supplier, Hassan said, noting that it is a primary evidence for recipient to claim are subject to return policy.
The tax invoice is a legal document that serves as proof that the seller submits sales tax (value-added tax (VAT) to the tax office, and it later serves as the basis for VAT reporting, ETA head said, adding that demanding the tax bill will not cost the client any additional sums.
He added that the ETA receives complaints regarding the tax bill on the phone number 16395.
