CAIRO – 16 June 2017: Minister of Finance Amr El-Garhy will participate Friday in the annual meeting of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), to be held on South Korea’s island of Jeju.
Garhy, participating as Egypt’s governor at the bank and the representative of non-Asian and non-European member states, was invited to give the introductory speech at the meeting’s main session, the Ministry of Finance said in a statement.
The minister will focus on Egypt’s support to the AIIB’s strategy and targets, topped by promoting means of financial integration among the member states and international institutions in order to bridge the investment gap in infrastructure.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Garhy is scheduled to hold a number of bilateral meetings in order to review the latest developments of the economic reforms adopted by the Egyptian government in addition to means of promoting cooperation with Cairo’s international partners.
The minister is also set to meet with his South Korean counterpart and the AIIB’s vice president to discuss ways to boost Cairo-Seoul cooperation in several fields.
