CAIRO – 15 June 2017: Egypt’s economic growth has picked up to 4.3 percent during the third quarter of the current fiscal year, Minister of Planning Hala el-Said said Thursday.
In a press conference after the Cabinet’s meeting, Said explained that the increase happened as a result of activity improvements in tourism, transport, industry and construction sectors.
The total budget deficit declined to 8.4 percent, while the annual inflation slumped to 30.9 percent in Q3, Said added.
Egypt’s economic growth rate recorded 3.4 percent of GDP in Q1 FY 2016/2017, the Ministry of Planning said in January.
