CAIRO - 25 August 2019: Petroleum Minister Tarek el Molla met Sunday with board chairman of the Bilateral US-Arab Chamber of Commerce (BUSACC) David L. Phillips to discuss means of boosting cooperation between the two sides.
Safety and environment protection are top priorities of the petroleum sector in Egypt, Molla said in a statement.
Many projects are currently being implemented as part of a plan to increase local production of oil and gas in a step meant to turn Egypt into a regional hub of petroleum trade, he noted.
American companies are keen on investing in Egypt's petroleum sector, given the progress achieved in the exploration process, as well as the renovation of refinement laboratories, Molla said.
He also touched upon efforts to upgrade Egyptian ports and enhance industrial safety and environment protection.
The meeting also took up new technologies to protect the environment and new applications in the field of refinement, Molla added in the statement.
