CAIRO – 26 August 2018: The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) ended the first session after Eid al-Adha holiday on mixed note, and market capitalization gained LE 44.3 million, amid Egyptians and Arab selling.
The bourse was off for four days on the occasion of Eid El-Adha, started from Monday, August 20 to Thursday, August 23.
The benchmark EGX30 lost 0.22 percent, or 34.36 points, to close at 15,239.03 points.
On the other hand, the equally weighted index EGX50 increased 0.31 percent, or 7.67 points, to reach 2,519.85 points.
The small and mid-cap index EGX70 hiked 0.18 percent, or 1.31 points, reaching 739.31 points, and the broader index EGX100 inched up 0.16 percent, or 2.98 points, closing at 1,899.01 points.
Market capitalization gained LE 44.3 million, recording LE 856.45 billion, compared to LE 856.4 billion in Sunday’s session.
The trading volume reached 211.03 million shares, traded through 17,727 transactions, with a turnover of LE 211.03 million.
Medical Packaging Company, Electro Cable Egypt, and GMC GROUP FOR INDUSTRIAL COMMERCIAL & FINANCIAL INVESTMENTS were top gainers of the session by 7.87 percent, 7.84 percent and 7.23 percent, respectively.
On the other hand, El Nasr for Manufacturing Agricultural Crops, Alexandria Spinning & Weaving (SPINALEX), and Egyptian for Developing Building Materials were top losers of the session by 6.73 percent, 5.64 percent, and 4.29 percent, respectively.
Foreign investors were net buyers at LE 7.4 million, while Egyptian and Arab investors were net sellers at LE 2.4 million and LE 4.97 million, respectively.
Egyptian and foreign individuals were net buyers at LE 14.74 million and LE 22,343, respectively, while Arab individuals were net sellers LE 2.45 million.
Egyptian and Arab organizations were net sellers at LE 17.19 million and LE 2.5 million, respectively, while foreign organizations were net buyers at LE 7.4 million.
EGX ended Sunday’s session in red, as EGX30 slipped 0.15 points, EGX50 declined 0.43 percent, EGX70 decreased 0.31 percent, and EGX100 inched down 0.19 percent
