CAIRO - 17 June 2018: The Finance Ministry said that LE1.5 billion will fund the first and second phases of the project of upgrading the lightning of the streets nationwide to energy-saving headlamps.
In a statement on Sunday, the ministry underlined that the venture will be implemented in cooperation between the Local Development and Electricity Ministries besides the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI).
As many as 2.5 million headlights and 64,000 controlling units will be installed with total cost of LE 2 billion in order to accurately measure the amount of energy used in general lighting, the statement read.
Head of the budget sector Abdel Aziz Tantawi pointed out that the project aims at reducing public spending, saving the energy consumption used in lighting the streets and providing the lighting suitable for the safety of pedestrians and cars in the streets.
